ForageGrassBase

Molecular Data Resources for Forage Grasses

Department of Plantsciences

Department of Plant Sciences is an international centre of academic excellence in applied and basic plant sciences. We focus on sustainable agriculture, agroecology, safe and sufficient food supply, production innovation, and breeding of improved cultivars, as well as basic plant biology.

Prof. Odd Arne Rognli, one of the leading forage scientist in contributing genetics and genomic resources related to forage grasses. He has experience in successfully implemented several national and international research projects in the field of forage crop science. As very little genome resources available in forage crops, it is essential to develop better genome resources for successful implementation of breeding technologies.

Here we sequenced meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis), one of the important forage crop and we are also on the way to sequence another important forage crop Timothy (Phleum pretense). More genomic resources related to forage crops will be publicly available through this ForagGrassBase.
